FOR PLUMBERS
Free to join at launch
No lead fees. No monthly fee. At launch, Fill My Day costs plumbers nothing.
IN SHORT
At launch, Fill My Day is free for plumbers and for customers. There are no lead fees, no subscription and no commission at launch. Customers pay plumbers directly for the work, and no money goes through the app. If paid features are added later, we'll say so clearly before anything changes.
Free at launch, for both sides
When Fill My Day launches in Bristol, it's free for plumbers and free for customers. That means:
- no fee to join
- no charge per lead, per job sent or per reply
- no monthly subscription
- no commission on your jobs
We're starting free because a matching app only works when there are enough plumbers and jobs close together. Building that in Bristol comes first.
How other platforms charge
If you've used other trade platforms, you'll have met one of these ways of paying:
| MODEL | HOW IT WORKS | THE CATCH |
|---|---|---|
| Pay per lead | You pay to see or reply to a job | You pay whether or not you win the work |
| Membership | A monthly or yearly fee to be listed | You pay in quiet months too |
| Commission | A percentage of each job you win | Payment usually has to go through the platform |
| Fill My Day at launch | Free to join, be sent jobs and reply | None at launch |
How you get paid
The customer pays you directly, the way you agree with them. No money goes through the app at launch. The price you send is your price, and your payment terms are yours to set: on completion, by bank transfer, by card on your own reader.
Agree how you'll be paid in the app's messages before you start, so there's no confusion at the end.
Pricing small jobs
Small jobs are where pricing goes wrong most often. A few things that help:
- Price the visit, not just the minutes. Getting there, parking and packing up are part of the job.
- Say whether parts are included. If you'll know once you see it, say that and give a range.
- Use the photos. A clear picture of the tap or valve lets you price with confidence before you set off.
Because you're only sent jobs near where you already are, the travel cost of a small job is lower than usual. That's what makes small jobs worth doing in a gap.
Later on
We may add optional paid features in future. If we do, we'll say so clearly before anything changes, and this page will be updated.
