VERIFICATION
Being on Fill My Day is meant to mean something. Every plumber's documents are looked at by a real person before they can take work.
IN SHORT
Plumbers upload their qualifications and proof of public liability insurance when they join. The Fill My Day team checks them and approves each plumber before they can reply to jobs. Anyone offering gas work must be Gas Safe registered. Verification checks documents at the time of approval. It isn't a guarantee of the quality of any job.
HOW IT WORKS
What happens between a plumber signing up and replying to their first job.
Qualifications and public liability insurance, plus Gas Safe ID for gas work.
A person on the Fill My Day team looks at every document.
Only approved plumbers can reply to jobs. We'll say if anything's missing.
After every job, customer and plumber review each other.
| DOCUMENT | WHAT WE LOOK FOR | WHO NEEDS IT |
|---|---|---|
| Qualifications | Relevant plumbing qualifications, for example an NVQ in plumbing and heating, in your name | Every plumber |
| Public liability insurance | A current certificate in your name or your business's name, with the cover amount and expiry date | Every plumber |
| Gas Safe registration | A current Gas Safe ID card, with the gas work you're registered for | Anyone offering gas work |
Gas work must be done by a Gas Safe registered engineer by law. If you don't do gas work, you don't need Gas Safe registration to join, but you won't be matched with gas jobs.
A person does. Documents are reviewed by the Fill My Day team at Managed Construction Ltd, and each plumber is approved one at a time before they can reply to a job. It isn't a form you tick yourself, and it isn't an automated check.
If something is missing or unclear, we'll tell you what we need. You can't reply to jobs until you're approved.
Automated checks are fast, but they miss things a person spots: a certificate in someone else's name, insurance that's about to run out, a qualification that doesn't match the work being offered. Starting small in Bristol means every plumber gets looked at properly.
It also means being on Fill My Day tells a customer something. Every plumber they hear from has been looked at by a person first.
Verification means we've seen the plumber's documents and they were in order when we approved them. It isn't a guarantee of the quality of any particular job, and it doesn't replace your own judgement.
Fill My Day introduces customers and plumbers. The work itself is agreed between the two of them.
After every job, customer and plumber review each other. Over time, that tells you more than any document: whether someone turns up when they said, does what they priced, and leaves the place tidy.
Tell us. We look into problems with plumbers and customers, and we can suspend or remove any account on Fill My Day.
GOOD TO KNOW
Yes. Nobody can reply to a job until their documents have been checked and they've been approved by a person.
No. It confirms the plumber's documents were in order when we approved them. Agree the price and what's included before work starts, and check reviews.
Only if you offer gas work. Plumbers who don't do gas work can join without it, and won't be matched with gas jobs.
We check each plumber by hand, so it depends on how many are joining at once. We'll tell you if anything is missing.
Keep it current and tell us when you renew. We can ask for up-to-date documents at any time.
Yes. We can suspend or remove any account.
