Live availability.
Plumbers open a window when they're free. It ends on its own.
HOW IT WORKS
One side has a job. The other has a gap in the day. Fill My Day puts them together, nearby and at the right time.
IN SHORT
Plumbers set an availability window: when they're free, where they're starting from and how far they'll travel. Customers post a job with photos, location and timing. The app sends each job to plumbers whose window, distance and kind of work fit. Plumbers reply with a price, the customer picks one, and the two message each other to agree the details. Afterwards, both leave a review.
AT A GLANCE
The four ideas the whole app is built on.
Plumbers open a window when they're free. It ends on its own.
Jobs go only to plumbers free at the right time and close enough.
Plumbers reply with a price. Customers pick with reviews in view.
Every plumber is checked first. Reviews go both ways after.
Fill My Day has two kinds of user: plumbers with free time, and people with a job that needs doing. Both use the same app, for iPhone and Android, with a separate sign-up for each. It launches in Bristol, with plumbers first.
What needs doing, where, when suits you, and a photo if it helps.
Checked plumbers nearby whose free time fits reply with a price.
Compare prices, profiles and reviews, accept one, and message them in the app.
From, until, where you're starting and how far you'll travel.
Jobs inside your time, distance and kind of work come to your phone.
Reply with your price. If it's accepted, agree the details and do the job.
The window is what makes Fill My Day different. It's a record of a plumber's free time today: a start, an end, a starting point and a travel distance. "Free until five, starting in Bedminster, eight miles" is a window.
It isn't a setting that stays switched on. When the time's up, the window ends on its own, so the plumbers a job reaches are the ones who are actually free. There are no stale profiles and no calls about an afternoon that ended last week.
A job is only sent to plumbers who fit all three:
The last one matters more than it looks. Fitting a tap and tracing a leak behind a kitchen unit are different jobs, so plumbers say what they do and matching follows it. Gas work only goes to Gas Safe registered engineers.
EXAMPLE
At 12:40 a plumber in Bedminster finishes a bathroom early and opens a window until 5pm, eight miles. At 12:55 a customer in Southville posts a dripping kitchen tap, any time this afternoon, with two photos. The job fits the plumber's time, distance and work, so it's sent to them. They reply with a price and "can be there by two". The customer accepts, and messaging opens between them.
| DIRECTORY | FILL MY DAY | |
|---|---|---|
| Who you reach | Everyone listed in your area, free or not | Plumbers free at the right time and close enough |
| How you reach them | Search, then ring round and wait | Post once, and replies come to you |
| Availability | Whatever the profile says | Live windows that end on their own |
| Checks | Varies | Every plumber checked by a person first |
Plumbers reply with a price, and usually when they can arrive. The customer sees each price next to the plumber's profile: the work they do, photos of past jobs, reviews, how many jobs they've completed and that their documents have been checked. They accept the one they want. Nothing is booked until both sides have said yes.
Once a price is accepted, messaging opens between the customer and the plumber for that job. It's the place to agree access, timing and what's included, so there's a record. Messaging is tied to the job, not open to anyone on the platform.
Plumbers get a notification on their phone the moment a matching job comes in, with an email as a backup. Customers are told when replies arrive. Everyone chooses which notifications they get.
After the job, the customer reviews the plumber and the plumber reviews the customer. Both sides build a track record, which makes the next job easier for everyone.
Every plumber's qualifications and public liability insurance are checked by a person before they can reply to a job, and anyone offering gas work must be Gas Safe registered. If something isn't right, we can suspend or remove any account. Read how we check plumbers.
Fill My Day is free for both sides at launch. No money goes through the app: the customer pays the plumber directly, as agreed. Read more about cost.
GOOD TO KNOW
A directory lists everyone, free or not. Fill My Day only sends a job to plumbers who are free at the right time and close enough to get there.
Their availability window closes on its own, and they stop being sent jobs.
Not at launch. The customer pays the plumber directly, as they agree.
Messaging opens only between the customer and the plumber on an accepted job.
Yes. The interactive app concept lets you click through the plumber and customer screens.
FIRST STOP / BRISTOL
The app is in development and isn't taking bookings yet. Plumbers first, other trades to follow.
